Here, McCartney clipped Wings, scaling back to a mellow, keyboard-rich trio. Paul himself has said unkind things about London Town but it actually holds up better than some of Wings' other records. That said, aside from a couple of cuts, it's pretty inessential, which is weird considering the melodies are likable and more attention was paid to the lyrics this time out. As usual, Paul gets it together for the single, and "With a Little Luck" was a deserved No. 1 hit (it shows how good Macca was at getting warm, organic sounds out of synthesizers). "Girlfriend" and "Famous Groupies" are also solid numbers.
