Released:
Label: HIP-O (PG)/Fontana
With this 2000 release, Weller moves away from a heavier rock sound and into a psychedelic folk realm by collaborating with Robert Kirby, who orchestrated those spellbinding Nick Drake records. The feel and sound of this one is special, but overall it features Weller's slightest batch of songs. Still, there are a number of fine tunes here: "Sweet Pea, My Sweet Pea" is a folk-rock revelation, "Frightened" is a solid tune with a fantastic Kirby arrangement and the lovely "Dust and Rocks" slowly takes off into the cosmos.
