Blues Cross Country (Bonus Tracks)
Peggy Lee
Released:
Jan 1961
Label:
Blue Note Records
A decidedly odd, but very amusing concept album built around blues-based travel tunes. Since Lee had a stripped-down Count Basie-blues vocal style and her collaborator (and then-paramour) Quincy Jones was one of Basie's arrangers this gels perfectly. Lee's eccentric originals include "SF Blues," "Boston Beans," and "Fisherman's Wharf." The CD adds two bonus singles.
