[On the Record](http://www.rhapsody.com/blog/on-the-record/) is a video series where rock stars gush about their favorite records -- in exactly 45 seconds. Click above to watch [Porter Robinson](http://www.rhapsody.com/goto?rcid=art.40230754) give it up for [Pendulum](http://www.rhapsody.com/goto?rcid=art.8930712).
Pendulum are an oddity in the world of drum 'n' bass: a five-piece band that crosses over into the realm of emo-tinged alt metal. The band spent a formative year in its native Perth, Australia, before relocating to London, a city friendlier to their brand of subwoofer-rumbling rock -- and a more convenient jumping-off point for the global takeover that followed. In 2005, Pendulum released their debut album, Hold Your Colour, on the drum 'n' bass label Breakbeat Kaos, and in 2008 they jumped to Warner for In Silico, a crossover-inclined album that largely abandoned dance music in favor of alt-rock bombast. In 2010, after heavy touring, they returned with Immersion, which featured guest appearances from The Prodigy's Liam Howlett and Swedish death metallers In Flames.
