If Paul Stanley's solo album was the most Kiss-like, Peter Criss' was the least. Mostly it sounds like a missing Hall & Oates demo, albeit raunchier, steeped in dirty blue-eyed soul, when he isn't trying to horn in on Bob Seger's homespun, raspy Americana act on a song like "Hooked on Rock 'n' Roll." There's a couple of fragile ballads that seem to approach the genius of "Beth" -- the Beatles-esque "Easy Thing" and "I Can't Stop the Rain" -- but fall a little short, because they're both unfortunately just out of his range.
