When Peter Gabriel went solo, he was at pains to show himself as an ordinary guy far removed from the Genesis singer who swung on wires whilst dressed up as a flowerpot. Ironically, he actually continued doing lavish, high-concept stage shows that delighted his old fans. This concert concentrated on the often slow and sonically bleak material from Gabriel's first four solo releases, throwing in the upbeat "I Go Swimming" as a refreshing tonic to all the darkness. The finale, "Biko," would grow in stature throughout the 1980s, becoming a sing-along anthem for kindly free-thinkers.
