To reflect their prolific (though relatively overlooked) catalog, Phantom Planet's self-titled EP attempts to redefine the group as more than just that-band-with-the-Rushmore-guy. The closest cousins for most of this set come from the nerd-rage power pop of Weezer's Pinkerton, with the exception of "Too Much Too Often," which is driven by the glitzy crash of an au-courant disco rock beat.
