by Phuture Doom
Released: Nov 2013
Black metal and EDM don't often meet, but leave it to Skrillex to facilitate the introduction. Chicago's Phuture Doom, signed to his OWSLA label, take the heaviest bits of dubstep and drum'n'bass and play them against metal mainstays like blast beats, lightning-fast guitar leads and the occasional chanting monk. Like their mentor, they like their beats fast and frenetic, and their arrangements have more twists and turns than a Voivoid-themed rollercoaster. The "Phuture" in their name nods to Chicago's acid pioneer; the "Doom" is self-explanatory.
