With their third LP, Crow and Smith sound like they've left bedroom recordings far behind, replacing sampled beats with standard rock band instrumentation and hushed whispers for confident, downright decipherable vocals. It's hardly as intimate as their previous work, but at times yields a more organic sound. But even with a drummer and more keyboards, the compositions are still a big can o' peaches from the Friday night bar band, especially with lurching, nearly funky tunes "This Red Book" and "3x0."
