With a name like Portable Sunsets, you can guess where this Sonora, California, band might be coming from -- their gently strummed guitars, pastel hues and wrinkled electronic textures are of a piece with a wider movement in home-spun electronic music whereby Instagram meets the pathetic fallacy. (There are even galloping, neighing horses in "Guitar Plume.") Fortunately, they're never cute about it; balancing ambient drift with punchy, jewel-toned techno, the LP suggests a long weekend holed up in the Sierras listening to Brian Eno and old Kompakt 12-inches.
