Volume 4: Songs in the Key of Love & Hate (Edited)
Released: Dec 2009
Pop music is so overrun with generic post-grunge acts that the tag has become somewhat of a curse. That's unfortunate in the case of Puddle of Mudd, whose fourth album is yet another totally solid effort. Wisely, they avoid the power-ballad approach of Creed and Staind and instead ride out snarling, sidewinder riffs lovingly nicked from Nirvana and Alice in Chains. Throwdowns like "Pitchin' a Fit" and "Spaceship" also betray PoM's knack for hooks and nicely layered choruses.
