Once upon a time, the jazz singer, actress and Cover Girl we know today was one of hip-hop's first prominent female voices — and most formidable emcees. Queen Latifah burst out of the gates with a debut (All Hail the Queen) that not only demanded a space for women in rap, but took hip-hop heads to task for sexism, and pop culture to task for its race biases. This 1993 follow-up continued that project with cuts like "U.N.I.T.Y.," "Black Hand Side" and the salty safe-sex anthem "Coochie Bang ...."
