This Brooklyn-based one-man-band is a coeval of local buzz acts MGMT and Yeasayer, though he trumps both in sheer ambition and experimental chutzpah. Sprawling over two discs, Walker's official label debute--he's already self-released over a dozen albums--dabbles in muddy rock, doowop, lo-fi pop, and everything in between. Start with the Prince-style falsetto of "Save Your Love For Me," and then switch gears into "Chicken Wire," which recalls the southern twang of Califone or Ugly Cassanova. "Porcupine" is an additional standout--the slippery vocal experiment should win points for sheer weirdness.
