Rachel Z

Biography

Pianist/keyboardist Rachel Z has worked with musicians ranging from contemporary Fusion (Al DiMeola, Wayne Shorter) to Smooth Jazz (Najee). Her own early albums came in a subdued, acoustic Post Bop vein, though she has since simplified her music. Hip-hop beats, electric keyboards, and contemporary pop covers (including Alanis Morrisette's "Head Over Feet") are all elements of this more commercial direction, as debuted on Love is the Power (1998).
