Pequeno Transistor De Feria
Released: May 2007
This electronic/rock band crafts spare, spacious music that relies on sonic exploration more than melody -- and yet melody, strangely, is never far from the picture. For an album that generally lacks discernible song structures, the listener rarely feels out to sea -- each snippet speaks, whether it's the reversed guitars singing like traditional Chinese music in "Third Day in Chinatown" or hints of blues guitar in "El Desierto." The result is so engrossing, so varied, so gorgeously strange that it almost sounds analog.
