Label: Grp Records
Soon after the Beatles self-titled white album came out, Chess Records had their star keyboardist do his own take on the Fab Four's biggest seller. The sugary orchestral arrangements can get in the way but Lewis' keyboard ideas are solid and his playing is soulful and funky. Lewis either completely reconfigures the tunes or uses the famous melodies as a jumping off point before building into energetic solos that take things into completely new directions.
