Despite claims that Rewind would usher in a "new era" for Rascal Flatts, it still maintains that well-produced pop-country sound, adorned with Gary LaVox's signature vocals and rounded out by the band's harmonies. This is what made us fall in love with the trio so many years ago, and is still what drives their sound. Yet the songs that resonate strongest here are the ones that aren't typical of Rascal Flatts: "Life's a Song," "I Have Never Been to Memphis" and "Aftermath." Still, there's no denying the hit potential of "I Like the Sound of That," and the bro-country charm of "Payback."
