Released:
Label: Light In The Attic
Recorded in 1971, yet not released until 2012 (when Light In The Attic finally acquired the master tapes), Ray Stinnett's A Fire Somewhere is very much a product of its era: earthy hippie jams that are both earnest and a wee bit trippy. But even though California folk-rock casts a long shadow over his music, Stinnett is ultimately a child of Memphis. Thus, his music also boasts flavors rooted in his hometown's rich tradition of blues, soul, gospel, rockabilly and country. Historical factoid: A Fire Somewhere was mixed and engineered by Richard Rosebrough, who would go on to work with Big Star.
