San Francisco duo R.B.L. (Ruthless By Law) Posse began crafting their hardcore and sometimes humorous Gangsta raps in the early 1990s. Armed with thumping beats, thick basslines, and a collection of classic samples, Black-C and Mr. Cee (not the New York DJ) provided listeners with a no-holds-barred view of life in their 'hood. They dropped three albums between 1992-95 before Mr. Cee's murder. Black-C rounded up other Cali producers and continued recording, and the Posse's last album H2O Vol.1 was released in 1999.
