Red Aunts

The all-female group Red Aunts first appeared in the California music scene in 1991. At the time, their angular chops and spastic chord changes were a breath of fresh air from the over-hyped grunge scene and the annoying Riot Grrrl saturation that was even more omnipresent than British Shoegazer bands at the time. Today their songs hold up to test of time: Red Aunts still sound as hard as nails and womanly around the edges.
