A crash course in early Chili Peppers -- before they truly became "Red Hot" -- this collection scoops up all the funk-rock progenitors' early hits, spanning their more unbridled years from 1984-1990, when they were still sporting tube socks on their nasty bits. "Fight Like a Brave" should have been a hit, and while "Higher Ground" propelled them into the stratosphere, it's "Under the Bridge" that really captures the soul of this band that was just about to take off as one of the big arena draws.
