Hailing from the U.K., Red Monkey seem to be the next in a long line of groups from that big island to beat American Funk to death in the name of impossibly cool art-punk. This is Indie Rock robotics, featuring angular as hell guitar lines and avant-noise drumming. Fronting the gnashing caterwaul is a hostile and sexy female vocal trading off stream of consciousness lines with her male bandmate in the post-Beat, gutter-punk style that Mark E. Smith unleashed on the universe. Angry and metallic, with the same mathematically satisfying quality of knocking off a whole row in Tetris.
