Red Rider
Released:
Jun 1981
Label:
Capitol Records
Thanks to the only song anyone in the U.S. knows by the band, "Lunatic Fringe," Red Rider will forever be remembered by anyone who came within a mile of either a radio or MTV in 1981, as their big hit spent 16 weeks in the No. 1 spot on the AOR charts and was in near-constant rotation on the fledgling music channel. With an unforgettable beginning and a Pink Floyd-like slide-guitar solo, it's also the only time the band doesn't sound like fellow Canadian stadium-rockers Loverboy, minus the high-octane hooks, though that doesn't mean this isn't still fun to crank at parties.
