Until We Have Faces isn't a terribly original album. Red, like most 21st century alternative metal bands, deal in down-tuned riffs, crooner/rager tandem vocals, mosh-pit breakdowns and emo-inspired anthems bleeding desperation and angst. Where the record stands out is in the arranging and production departments. With help from knob-twiddler Rob Graves (who has also worked with All That Remains), the band buttresses their sound with a dense and really quite intricate background of symphonic flourishes and atmospheric effects. The tag "baroque-core" wouldn't be too far off the mark, really.
