Biography
The Rev. Clay Evans comes from the same school of groundbreaking Gospel as the Rev. James Cleveland. In the early '50s, Evans was one of the many musician/preachers adding contemporary pop shadings to once strictly hymnal Gospel. Often backed by church organ and a rousing choir, his energetic arrangements are synonymous with the form and can be enjoyed for their historical value, or as uplifting celebrations of religious belief.
