While he's a singer of uncommon delicacy, Bona's music has teetered on the edge of preciousness (or even pop-jazz cheese) for a few years. Not so with 2003's Munia, whose glorious vocal opening bleeds into a series of songs that marry African pop with folk, jazz and world influences. It's still not edgy music, by any means, but songs like "Sona Mama" = tenderness.
