The sweet cacophony of "Seagull" launches this whirling, swirling shoegazer classic, one of the best in the genre. Andy Bell's voice lends the songs some tenderness, but they all burst like volcanoes, spewing brilliant noise and then relapsing into exhausted calm. As roiling as Mother Nature, and just as (awe-)inspiring.
