Robbers on High Street wear their affection for the Kinks (or Kinks disciples Spoon) with their collars up, decorating a mess of retro pop melodies with rude piano lines, no-frills electric guitar and interlocking bass and drums. When they expand things with an occasional French horn, or the outlying album cut "You Don't Stand a Chance," it works just as well as when they keep things simple, as on "The Fatalist." "Kick 'Em In The Shins" is a highlight.
