The Evolution of Robin Thicke
Robin Thicke
Released:
Oct 2006
Label:
The Neptunes
After experiencing growing pains following the commercial failure of his debut, 2003's Beautiful World, blue-eyed lothario Robin Thicke returns with another batch of breezy, love-struck ballads. More traditionally R&B than on his debut, Evolution sounds like a more sonically conservative version of JT's Futuresex. Thematically, the disk is soaked in tropical hedonism. "Everything I Can't Have" flirts with samba, while "Cocaine" celebrates clubland's favorite South American import.
