Pushing 60 age-wise, these prototype Cleveland punks manage a perfectly playable album, though they cheat a pinch: Secret weapon Richard Lloyd, ex-Television guitarist who still melds fuzzed-up surf/folk/jazz/psych into something exploratory, ain't from Ohio, and two songs sneakily repeat in alternate versions, under different titles. "Birth Day," which seems to mention Britney Spears, at least gets sung all through, twice within the same track. And yelping David Thomas has women on his groggy mind -- even the ominous "Maelstrom" revolves around "I got a phone call, it was a girl call."
