Rocketship

Biography

The Bay Area's Rocketship work in similar fashion to other low-impact melody machines such as the Fairways, Majestic, and Poundsign. But Rocketship throws a more pronounced nod to the British shoegazers -- working their organs and buzzing low end theory into a spectral, psychedelic swirl in the way Stereolab does: generously. Another one of Rocketship's more prominent features is, like the Fairways, songwriting based on an award winning smile, driven with lots of "oohs" and "aahs" spread over jazzy chords and a frolicking 4/4 time signature. Rocketship do it better than most -- their hazy, Technicolored pop occupies more bandwidth than any pawnshop and pomade contingency.
