Self-Made (Explicit)

by Rocko
Self-Made by Rocko
Released: Mar 2008
Label: So So Def / Island
His smash "Umma Do Me" serves as Rocko's calling card as part of the new school of swag rappers who rhyme about why they're so fly and how much money they're gettin'. While stuntin' has always been a pillar of rap, the pose wears thin over an entire album; blame Rocko's banal flow (picture a less charismatic Young Jeezy) and some lackluster beats, as heard on "Priceless" and "Like This Here." Elsewhere, the hooks on "She Can Get It" and "Snakes" add little to Rocko's take on females he wants to get with and backstabbers, respectively. His smash turns out to be the best song on the album.
