There are wonderful moments on 11.11. Wah-wah pedals -- surely a first in flamenco? -- meet Jimi Hendrix-esque licks, and then melt into nearly baroque constructions, all played at breakneck speed and delivered with the careless aplomb of the street performer -- though these two have clearly moved beyond their busking roots, as their more expansive and attentive technique shows. But for the most part, the duo still seems uncomfortable stepping outside the wind tunnel. Even when Rodrigo and Gabriela slow down, their fingers sound impatient for the next arpeggio.
