Released:
Label: Brushfire Records/Universal
Between 2007's Asleep at Heaven's Gate and this, their fourth release, Rogue Wave battled through the death of former bassist Evan Farrell, along with a freak accident that left Zach Rogue out of commission. Given the circumstances, they easily could have turned down a brooding path; instead they recorded their most upbeat album to date. The addition of flickering synths and digitized vocals ("Good Morning," "Permalight") nudges them closer to the Postal Service's aesthetic, but it's subtler tracks like "Sleepwalker" and "I'll Never Leave You" that serve their tight songwriting best.
