The System by Romain Virgo
Released: May 2012
Label: VP Records
After asserting himself as a powerful crooner on his debut, Romain Virgo uses his second effort to make a serious statement. He candidly speaks about the struggles in Jamaica on the title track: "When the system no create no job, what you expect ghetto youths fi have?/ Them will kill people and rob, yes/ When innocent life get burn, government nuh show concern/ To who do the people turn?" The album is filled with more social commentary, like on "Food Fi the Plate," "Minimum Wage" and "I Know Better," but Virgo also offers a few lovers rock tunes with "Ray of Sunshine" and "I Am Rich in Love."
