Ron Morelli's L.I.E.S. label has been instrumental in uniting techno heads with the noise underground (their first compilation was even called American Noise). On his debut album, the Long Island native does his darnedest to blur those lines even further. Opening with sonar pings and coruscating drones, the record soon plunges into tracks like "Modern Paranoia" and "Crack Microbes," unvarnished machine fugues marked by wormy arpeggios and copious cowbell abuse. "Director Of..." is a seasick take on Delia Derbyshire; "Sledgehammer II" is a slow-motion industrial nightmare.
