Just about every Rooney album contains one or two nuggets designed to snag a little Top 40 radio airplay. On Eureka, the band's fourth full-length since 2003, it's the SoCal bounce of "I Can't Get Enough," which sounds like a straight-up Sugar Ray rip. Ultimately though, the quartet is obsessed with classic power-pop a la Jellyfish, the Raspberries, Cheap Trick and so on. There is some insanely catchy pop on this record, including "Only Friend," "Pity" and the Cars-influenced "All or Nothing."
