Rusko often gets blamed for dubstep's devolution, but the British DJ's 2010 album debut was more interested in hooks and funk (in particular, G-funk) than mind-numbing, bowel-busting wobble. With Songs, he doubles down on melodies, choruses, codas and other hallmarks of canny pop craftsmanship. Rooted in reggae, the album delights in switching between dubstep's thundering rhythms and airy trance. Many of the best tracks salute the U.K.'s old-school rave culture, while the stunning "Pressure" looks back to Basement Jaxx without losing a shred of its futuristic funk.
