It should surprise no one that the Wu Tang is scoring Spike TV's cooler-than-thou animated kung-fu flick, Afro Samurai. This soundtrack is divided into traditional hip-hop tracks and instrumental score numbers, and the former is definitely stronger than the latter. "Just a Lil Dude" is awash in RZA's signature minor-key tension, while the tight acoustic guitar figure and smoky soul hook on "Cameo Afro" provide perfect background fodder for GZA's rhymes. RZA's best work has always mixed mysticism with hard-boiled ghetto realism, and this soundtrack is no different.
