What could have been a great album settles for being a good album with a few flashes of excitement. As part of Buenos Aires' burgeoning electro-tango scene, San Telmo Lounge usually craft the same electronically damaged tango that groups like Bajofondo Tango Club are peddling. San Telmo Lounge take the melodically easy route on this album, however, eliding the vertiginous drops and tempo changes of tango with disappointingly straightforward beats and jazzy -- almost smooth-jazzy -- guitar. It makes for decent listening, but if you love classic tango, it will likely leave you cold.
