Assumed to be the exquisite voice of Saint Etienne and nothing more, Cracknell proves here that she's a strong creative force in her own right. Her first solo album offers plenty of upbeat Euro-disco, but the finest numbers -- "Ready or Not," "Home" and "Can't Stop Now" -- sound like rain-swept, cinematic pop from the 1960s.
