Current is the follow-up to Sarah Macintosh's critically acclaimed 2008 sophomore solo effort, and the wait has definitely been too long. Her crystal-clear voice is in great form, and this music washes over you like a cool spring shower. The sound is actually pop, with some interesting instrumentation -- listen for harp as the album opens, giving way to other more traditional strings. This 11-song collection was expertly produced by Sarah's husband, Jonny Macintosh, and Paper Route's J.T. Daly. There's a newfound maturity heard here, tempered by a joy that is nothing short of infectious.
