THE END
Satyricon's second record continues along the contextual lines of their debut, meaning the songs celebrate the olden days, not the destruction of the present ones. With fewer acoustic elements than their first, The Shadowthrone is more relentless in its brutality, but thanks to the band's knack for creepy synths, it retains their songwriting's odd, shimmering beauty. Vocalist and main songwriter Satyr unleashes a truly awful (read: awesome) yell-scream at the beginning of "In the Mist by the Hills."
