Robin Rimbaud, aka Scanner, creates output as an electronic music artist by spanning a great number of sounds. He can drop the agitated beats of Jungle and switch comfortably to cold, isolationist Ambient drones. What separates Scanner most distinctly from other programmers is his use of technology. This solo artist acquires much of his music by scanning the airwaves and picking up transmissions of communication. As you listen to his music, you are, in turn, hearing him eavesdrop on the million-fold voices that float through the air. You become the voyeur of the voyeur. All that’s private becomes public.
