Scarnella

A collaboration featuring Carla Bozulich (Geraldine Fibbers, Ethyl Meatplow) and experimental guitar virtuoso Nels Cline (Thurston Moore, Geraldine Fibbers, Charlie Haden), Scarnella weave atmospherics and traditional, folk-based songwriting into unique, subtly beautiful songs. Fans of Cline's Jazzmaster showmanship will be pleased that he continues in the same vein for Scarnella; his whirling, bristling tones and sparing effects careen and gently fill the bandwidth not already occupied by Bozulich's straightforward, acoustic-bred delicacies. Those unfamiliar may find solace only after a few listens -- their approach is a subtle, patient one that finds its way into the subconscious rather than one that bombastically clobbers you with its brilliance.
