Sebastian Mikael emerged in the fall of 2013 with "Last Night," a sly defense of drunken lovemaking with a prominent Al B. Sure sample. His subsequent Speechless shows greater ambition: He simmers over a Rhodes keyboard piano and blues guitar on "Forever," and riffs delightfully on the acoustic folk-pop of the title track. Meanwhile, a duet with Teyana Taylor on "Made for Me" and "Thinkin' About You Girl" soar on his airy yet assured vocals. The mini-album ends anticlimactically with "Beautiful Life," but not before Mikael proves he's not just another R&B lothario.
