Secondhand Serenade is the acoustic love-song project of one John Vesely, who found fame as a MySpace artist when his self-recorded album Awake became an online sensation in 2005. In the wake of selling 15,000 copies of the unassuming, heartfelt album and topping several "Best MySpace Artist" polls, Secondhand Serenade was signed to a deal with Warner Bros. affiliate Glassnote Records. Awake was re-released in 2007. From the beginning, the inspiration for Vesely's music had been his relationship with wife Candice, and when the pair separated in 2008 the breakup provided the context for Vesely's second record, A Twist in My Story. It appeared in 2009 and further cemented his place as the modern go-to guy for sad, sad love songs.
