As Senor Coconut, Germany's Uwe Schmidt operates under the assumption that any pop classic is better as a sprightly samba or a cheeky cha-cha-cha. (No wonder he moved to Chile.) Previous reworks focused on Kraftwerk, Sade and even the Doors; Yellow Fever! tackles Japan's synth-pop pioneers Yellow Magic Orchestra. (Don't be too offended by the ironic title: it didn't stop Y.M.O. members Ryuichi Sakamoto and Haruomi Hosono from collaborating on the project.) Whether you know the originals or not, the percussive, horn-led arrangements will have your hips swaying and your mind spinning.
