Is it safe to say that Sergio Mendes is pulling a Santana? Two years ago, he put out Timeless, a collection of collaborations primarily with young American artists. This time, the bossa master teams up with an international cadre of talent: Latin rock superstar Juanes, Italian hip-hopper Jovanotti (whose "Lugar Comum" is one of the album's highlights), Natalie Cole (who seriously works the classic "O Morro") and various and sundry Peas. If the results haven't been quite as commercially successful as Santana's career facelift, they could give Carlos a run for his money artistically.
