by Sex Mob
Released: Aug 2006
Label: Thirsty Ear Recordings
While the jazz underground has a serious, sometimes pretentious image, the Sex Mob know how to bring an indie rock audience along with them for a fun ride. Here, the Mob do their own take on the 1950s exotica EZ listening sound and manage to conjure up sensual intrigue in an uncompromisingly tough urban setting. The cut "Dick Contino Blues" plays like a soundtrack for James Ellroy's novella of the same name.
